2XU Local Legend
When and why did you first encounter 2XU?
After I raced in the 2005 BRW Sydney Corporate Triathlon and I decided to do the Port Macquarie Half Ironman. I came across 2XU firstly in Triathlon magazines, then at 3 Sports on York Street, Sydney.
What was your first purchase?
Long Distance Tri Shorts and Top, in blue. I still have them even though I haven't worn them for years as I’ve upgraded. They’re just too good to throw out!
What was your feedback to the garment?
Maybe a higher neck to protect you from 'wetsuit rash', and a longer zip to show of my man rug on the run!
What is your proudest sporting accomplishment?
A Personal Best in the European Ironman 2012 at Frankfurt, or perhaps doing a Personal Best in the 2013 Busso 70.3, which earned me a qualifying spot for the 70.3 World Championships in Vegas. I followed this with a fantastic race in Vegas.
When did you first set yourself a goal to achieve this, and why?
When I was 13 I watched Greg Welsh win Kona, and wanted to do an Ironman but didn't believe I could - especially the swim! Ever since then it was a goal.
What role did 2XU play in this journey?
I have always raced, trained and recovered in 2XU since I started in triathlon. It has always made me feel million dollars. How you feel has a huge impact on how you train and race.
What is your advice to others considering a challenge like this?
Be patient, focused, and want it really bad.
What is yur favourite 2XU piece of apparel?
My new Long Distance Tri Shorts. They’re very comfy and I love the great colours - grey and blue.
Why do you choose 2XU?
No other product looks or performs as well.
What is next for you on the sporting horizon?
My wife and I are about to have a baby, so probably some shorter triathlons and then reevaluate my goals.
