What does your standard training week involve?
Lots of swimming, hill reps on the bike and run, and core training.
Where is your favourite place to train?
Any sunny place on earth with a swimming pool, running trails, open-water, and good streets for cycling.
What is your favourite 2XU garment? When do you use it and why?
WW2354 X:3 Wetsuit. I use it when the water is cold or I'm really tired, because it makes me fast.
What is your favourite training accessory?
What has been the toughest experience in your career and what did you learn from it?
To stand the pressure at the qualification race for the Olympics - I try to concentrate on the things I can influence and never ever give up.
What’s the most common training mistake you see on the circuit? Any suggestions on how to avoid it?
Overtraining - Sometimes less is more.
What motivates you to train and race harder?
My dreams and goals.
Describe your diet/meal plan leading up to a big race:
I don't have a meal plan, but I prefer spaghetti bolognese on the day before the race.
How do you balance your training and racing life with life outside the sport?
Is there a life outside sport?
What type of nutritional supplement do you find most helpful (either for training or competition)?
I don't use supplements in training. Bananas and water are my fuel. In races I use a gel.
Best and worst thing about being a professional athlete:
Best: To stand on a podium of an important race or to perform the best you ever thought you could.
Worst: Always on tour - having to be consequent and focused every single day.
In five years time, I'll be:
Hopefully happy, injury free and still a triathlete.
