As a leading sport in Australia, netball has 350,000 registered played and 1.2 million participants nationally, making it the top women’s participation and team based sport in Australia for 15 to 24 year olds.
Australian netball has a proud international history with the Australian Diamonds winning ten World Netball Championships out of a possible 13 and two Commonwealth Games gold medals in 75 years of international competition – making them one of the country’s most successful national teams.
The future remains bright for the sport in Australia with Sydney set to host the 2015 Netball World Cup which is anticipated to leave a lasting participation and commercial legacy for future generations.
