Athletics Australia has a long and proud history of success on the international stage. In recent years the Australian Flame has produced some of its best ever results at major championships.
The Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne in 2006 were Australia’s most successful. The Olympic Games in Beijing (CHN) in 2008 were the best since 1968 and Australia's most successful IAAF world championships campaign of all time was Berlin (GER) in 2009. This period of sustained success continued when Australia achieved its best result on record at the IAAF world indoor championships in Doha (QAT) in 2010. In addition to these events, Australia also regularly performs very well at the World Walk Cup and World Cross Country Championships and produces its share of medalists at these events.
Athletics Australia is developing innovative partnerships to achieve its objectives and to invest in the future of the sport and Australia’s athletes.
FROM THE EXPERTS
Blake Lucas, Australian Pole Vaulter:
"I currently use 2XU Compression Tights which help me stay warm whilst training and competing and also aid my recovery so I can perform at my peak in the next session. I also love wearing my Compression Recovery Socks on long flights – my legs are fresh and ready to go as soon as I get off the plane. I also sleep in my Compression Socks after a hard session to help reduce lethargy the next day."
