2XU Signs Pro Triathlete and Olympic Medalist Bevan Docherty

World leading performance Compression and Triathlon apparel brand 2XU, is pleased to announce the addition of professional athlete and Olympic medalist, Bevan Docherty, to its growing portfolio of Brand Ambassadors. Docherty will train, compete and recover in 2XU garments including wetsuits, compression wear, cycle, tri and run apparel from now until 2015.

As one of only two athletes to win two Olympic triathlon medals, Bevan Docherty is no stranger to the podium. In addition to his hardware from Athens (2004) and Beijing (2008), Docherty is the 2013 New Zealand Ironman Winner, 2004 ITU Triathlon World Champion, 2008 ITU Triathlon Silver Medalist, 2006 Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist and 2012 Ironman 70.3 World Championship Bronze Medalist.

Competing for New Zealand, Docherty now lives stateside and has switched his focus from short to long course racing. In 2013, he smashed the Ironman Taupo record by shaving more than two minutes off 10-time winner, Cameron Brown’s former record, and completed the course in eight hours 15 minutes and 35 seconds. In 2012, Docherty made an even bigger splash in the sport by beating Lance Armstrong at the Panama 70.3.

Docherty, the 2014/2015 Ironman Asia Pacific Ambassador, is no stranger to racing in 2XU’s performance gear. “As part of the New Zealand Elite Team, I’ve had the privilege of racing in 2XU many times,” says Docherty. “It’s great to now be exclusively with a company that is so passionate about triathlon. Thanks to its acute dedication to excellence and cutting edge technologies, I know 2XU will be supporting me with the best products on the market in order to achieve my goals.”

“The addition of Bevan to our team makes this partnership particularly significant for 2XU in New Zealand,” said 2XU Director of Sales and Marketing, Aidan Clarke. “We now have a seriously strong trio of triathlon stars representing the brand; with Terenzo Bozzone and Cameron Brown alongside Bevan.”
