Virgin Cycling Powerhouses Register Impressive Results Across the Globe!

2XU Sponsored Virgin Teams, Fly V Australia – Pro Cycling Team and development squad Virgin Blue RBS Morgans Cycling Team, clocked impressive results across the weekend.

_VB_web

At the Alexian Brothers Tour of Elk Grove in Chicago, USA, Team Fly V’s Jonathan Cantwell added Stage 3 to his Stage 2 win and in doing so, won the prestigious Tour overall.

Cantwell placed well in the Stage 1 prologue Time Trial and clinched the Tour overall with wins in both Stage 2 and 3.   With time bonuses for the first three places each day of 20 – 12 – 8 seconds respectively to win the Tour, winning stages was imperative.

Closer to home, Pat Shaw from the Virgin Blue RBS Morgans cycling team backed up his Toowoomba victory with an overall win at Gippsland, Victoria.  Shaw confirmed his form and consistency by riding a tactically smart race to clinch his second tour win in succession.

Shaw started the final stage of the five day tour with a 14 second lead over Joseph Lewis (Drapac Porsche) and 33

second buffer to Cameron Jennings (Budget Forklifts).  Shaw was quick to acknowledge the support of his team mates; “This is a another great win for the Virgin Blue RBS Morgans cycling team and I would not have achieved this result without the support of my mates. Cameron Peterson, Michael Freiberg, James Hepburn, Ben Dyball, Scott Law and Rhys Gillett, this yellow jersey is for them.”

From Team 2XU, big congratulations to both cycling Teams.  Keep up the great work guys!

2XU’s Jenny Kalmback takes second in the Molokai2Oahu World Paddleboard Championship!

Jenny

2XU Ambassador Jenny Kalmback took 2nd place in the Molokai-2-Oahu World Paddleboard Championship (Hawaii) and sent us through an update on the gruelling 32 mile open ocean challenge:

This was my 2nd time racing across the Kaiwi channel and it was an amazing experience. The conditions were good – east wind, 6-8ft seas and a favourable current. However, it proved to be a tough race, especially the last 2 miles into a strong headwind. The Molokai to Oahu race is a true test of willpower and determination.  My official time of 6:09:50 earned me 2ndplace behind Maui’s Andrea Moller.  Needless to say I’m very happy with my results.  There were so many inspirational paddlers involved; I’m honoured to have been a part of the event and grateful to everyone who worked so hard to make it happen this year. Thanks to my sponsors, friends and family for all the support and encouragement. I’m looking forward to being back next year.

Thank you 2XU!
