Climate Control Chamber + Thermal Sweating Manikin

2XU apparel is examined by RMIT’s world-class textile testing facilities. To test garment performance in various environments, the Climate Controlled Chamber can be adjusted in temperature and humidity levels to replicate unique climatic conditions across the globe.

The Thermal Sweating Manikin simulates human body skin responses to the wearing of textile apparel in controlled environments. This highly technical Manikin also performs movements which imitate human body patterns during activity. Data is then interpreted to determine moisture wicking and cooling properties of 2XU garments. This critical information enables 2XU designers to map fabrics in appropriate anatomical regions when engineering garments for premium function and comfort.

For instance, the 2XU Long Distance (LD) Triathlon collection was tested under climatic conditions typical of those experienced in Kona, Hawaii (annual location of the World Ironman Championships).

3D Body Scanner

2XU garments are engineered according to measurements taken by a 3D Body Scanner featuring white light technology. This fully computerized instrument scans the body in seconds to produce a true-to-scale 3D body map. The fit and sizing of 2XU products is then determined according to 3D body scans taken of hundreds of individuals of various shapes and sizes.

Access to such refined technology and a vast research group has enabled us to refine the 2XU sizing model, particularly for the more specialized ends of the spectrum like tall and short garments.

Salzmann Compression Testing Apparatus

The Salzmann Compression Testing Apparatus is designed for the quick, accurate and comfortable measurement of the compression integrity of 2XU Compression garments. The Salzmann testing apparatus is internationally recognised as the leading and technically most accurate for compression pressure measurements and is also used for medical compression.

2XU Compression garments are tested using this device for quality control purposes and ensuring correct mmhg pressure ratings are achieved for graduated compression apparel.

Instron Tensile Strength Tester

The Instron Tensile strength tester is used to measure the tensile strength and resistance of 2XU fabrics in terms of tearing and bursting. All 2XU Compression fabric batches are quality tested for power and recovery properties. Products produced by 2XU competitor brands are also examined to ensure 2XU remains at the forefront in supplying best-in-class Compression across the world.
