Trio of Weekend Wins for 2XU's Team TBB!
The weekend brought wins across the globe for 2XU sponsored international triathlon powerhouse, TeamTBB. On Aussie turf, Rebekah Keat fought hard to come back to her ‘brilliant best’ and win Sunday's Challenge Cairns in 9:26:31. She began with a strong swim as part of a big group and felt comfortable. She soon showed her class and on the bike, leading the chasing group of women including Granger, Molloy and Pearson. However, by the turnaround at Port Douglas Granger, Lester and Pearson were ahead while Keat was in arrears after suffering a 4 minute penalty.
Keat came into T2 with a deficit and said she had to fight hard to get back in contention. Her resilience paid off and she came good on the second lap, saying, 'I think the crowd got me home and I got a second wind' only believing I'd won until the finishing shoot', Keat adding 'it was unreal to win in Australia'!
Also making the Challenge Cairns top 10 were teamTBB athletes, Diana Riesler at Challenge Kraichgau and David Dellow.
The second TeamTBB win was claimed in the USA by James Cunnama who held off Terenzo Bozzone and Joe Gambles to take the Rev3 Quassy crown in 3:59:17. Tidy work James!
In Switzerland, teamTBB’s Caroline Steffen aka Xena, defended her title to win against a home crowd to win at Ironman 70.3 Switzerland in 4:15:10.
