Jenny Kalmbach Counts Down to Molokai

"On July 29th, the most prestigious paddling event of the year will take place. The 32-mile Molokai2Oahu channel crossing is the biggest SUP race of the year and attracts paddlers from all over the world. This will be my 4th year racing in the event and my 5th time crossing the famed Kaiwi channel. It’s my favorite and most important race of the year and for four months leading up to it; it’s my primary focus. I eat, sleep and train with one thing on my mind: MOLOKAI.

With less than 3 weeks to go, the intense training is behind me and now it’s time to maintain where I’m at and stay healthy. It’s important to stay rested and not over do it. A big part of that is my recovery. In the evenings after a day of training, I throw on my 2XU recovery tights and a pair of compression socks. The compression really helps in reducing swelling, muscle soreness and allows for faster muscle repair, allowing me to train again the following day at the level I want to.

The long paddling sessions are over, the heavy gym days are tapering off and in 19 days, 150 paddlers will paddle off the shores of Molokai, take aim at Oahu and go. No matter what conditions the channel throws at us that day, it’s about having fun and enjoying the experience. See you out there :)

Also, check out this cool video featuring the women of Molokai!"
