GreenEDGE triumphs at Tour Down Under!
Simon survived a nervous 90km final stage, which was won by German Andre Greipel in a bunch sprint, to become only the third man to win the Tour Down Under twice.
After six stages, the 31-year-old finished on the same time as Spaniard Alejandro Valverde but took out the overall lead based on aggregate finishing positions throughout the week.
"We couldn't ask for a better start to the story that is GreenEDGE," Gerrans said.
"The first victory for a new team is often the hardest one to get and once you've got it out of the way they seem to come much easier.
"We've made our presence known right from the beginning, we're here, we're serious and we're ready to race."
GreenEDGE owner Gerry Ryan called is a win for the people. "It's their team, it's Australia's team and the people's team and that's what we're about," he said.
An inspiring start for the GreenEDGE team who no doubt will be resting up in their 2XU Recovery Compression!
