2XU Women dominate Ironman 70.3 Italy
2XU Ambassador and Italian home favourite Martina Dogana won the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Italy, with 2XU’s Edith Niederfriniger claiming second.
Niederfriniger led the way throughout the 90 km bike and started the run ahead Martina, but Dogana took control to win the race.
More than 1,000 from 47 countries competed in the Ironman 70.3 Italy, which consisted of a 1.9 km swim in rough waters of the Adriatic Sea, a 90 km challenging and scenic bike ride through vineyards and olive groves in the Abruzzo Mountains. They finished with a half marathon (21.1 km), along the beach promenade to the finish line in the heart of the city of Pescara, Italy.
